 The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) is facing a daunting task. It wants to start the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) on Gondal Road chowkdi to Jamnagar Road Chowkdi on 150 Ring Road, but people who reside by the side of the route have broken the railings of both the sides on the dedicated BRTS corridor. The broken railings are spotted throughout the 10.7 km BRTS corridor. RMC has set the deadline to start buses on the special corridor for June, 2011.


Mixed BRTS plan draws flak

PUNE: Several organisations and citizens working for sustainable transport in the city have said that the plan to have a 'mixed Bus Rapid Transit System' in Pune is a mockery of the very concept of BRT.
In a statement on Friday, the organisations have also said that the proposed system violates the agreement made by the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporations and the PMPML with the Union ministry of urban development about having dedicated lanes for buses on all BRTS corridors.
